Hidden Elf cards return in 2026 Topps Holiday Baseball, but collectors should read the official sources carefully before assuming how the variations are organized. The product page and checklist describe the feature in different ways.

Information checked September 20, 2026. Use the Topps product page and official checklist as the current sources of record.

What Topps says on the product page

Topps describes Hidden Elf as five variations for each of five players, with a small elf placed in a different location on every card. That wording implies a visual search element tied to the elf’s location.

What the checklist shows

The official checklist has a Hidden Elf section numbered HE-1 through HE-25. Those 25 entries are assigned across 25 named players, including Aaron Judge, Konnor Griffin, Paul Skenes, Shohei Ohtani, Roman Anthony, Jac Caglianone and others.

The checklist presentation therefore does not mirror the product-page phrase “five variations for each of five players.” This may reflect different ways of describing the feature, but the available sources do not explain the difference.

The responsible way to identify a listing

Do not invent an answer to the source difference. Verify:

  1. A clear photograph of the exact card.
  2. The HE checklist number.
  3. The player name.
  4. The visible elf placement.
  5. The card back and any identifying text.
  6. Whether the seller is offering one card or a lot.

If a listing claims a specific variation or rarity, look for manufacturer documentation supporting that wording. The official checklist identifies subjects and numbers but does not provide pull odds in the document reviewed here.

Hidden Elf is separate from other Holiday variations

The checklist also contains Holiday Variation Backs Short Prints, Holiday Variation Backs Super Short Prints, Holiday Variation Short Prints and Holiday Variation Super Short Prints. Do not use “Hidden Elf” as a general label for every seasonal variation.

Search by the exact HE number when possible. A broad title containing “elf,” “variation,” and “SP” may still describe a different card category.

Compare like with like

When comparing listings, keep the HE number, player, raw or graded status, and visible condition aligned. Active asking prices do not prove what buyers have paid. For raw cards, use our condition guide to inspect corners, edges, surface and centering.
